How to Improve Search Ranking
Filling your website with loads of great content will not automatically improve your search ranking.
The best way to improve a website’s search ranking is by adhering to a
strict set of design rules that are laid out by a professional SEO consultant within an overall SEO solution.
Here are three examples of design rules that may be included in the SEO strategy:
ALT Tags
Always use ALT text for graphics. Although this is very simple to do, it can often be overlooked by even the best website designer.
Using ALT text allows your website to better accommodate text browsers
and aids visually impaired users. ALT tags also increase the amount of
overall text content, which increases your chance of being found by a
search engine. SEO consultants are trained in
analysing your website to determine what ALT tags are most suitable. If
you want to improve your site’s search ranking it is advised you
contact a SEO service provider and have them conduct a simple ALT tag analysis
Keyword Meta-Tags
When
defining a list of keyword meta-tags it is important to do so for each
individual page. Applying a broad set of generic keywords across the
entire website will not do anything to improve the search ranking of
each page. A custom set of keyword meta-tags must be defined and related to content on that specific page. SEO specialists will
often check each page of your website and provide a suggested list of
keywords to help you improve the search ranking of every single page.
This forms a vital part of an overall SEO strategy.
Keyword Diversity
Keywords are the most important part of any SEO strategy. Before any website design takes place it is advised that you work with a SEO agency to
come up with a full list of possible keywords your Customer might use
to find your site. For example, if your website is essentially selling
furniture, then it’s possible your Customers will search for a couch,
chair or any number of words that describe various pieces of furniture.
Diversity is the key to success and you must work to anticipate all
possible Customer searches. Your keyword list will change over time and
shouldn’t be rushed just to get the site up and running quickly. SEO
specialists spend a great deal of time conducting online marketing research before advising their clients on the best possible keyword list.
